She watched them soar,
Many times before.

They touched the sky with color
And her eyes lit up her face;
And she grew ten inches taller
Knowing they were of her race.

Human souls break too easily,
So take me before you go.
We'll fly until tomorrow,
And see magic thick as snow.

Dragons are a race of honor,
A race with a word of gold.
A dragon is forever,
It's a human's heart that's sold.

It's too hard to ignore,
I'm not human anymore.

I refuse to be...

Free of human pain my eyes see.
Stretch my glistening wings,
I'm what I'm meant to be.
I could have been so many other things...

She's the dragons' child,
Past all mortal touch.
Human child far too mild--
And you asked too much.
